The most unrealistic part happens in the first 15 minutes of the film

I dont know whats crazier...The Bride showing up on Vernita's doorstep or Vernita actually answering the door!! I dont know ANYONE who opens the door without looking first and knowing who it is at the door...especially a woman who has a secret past in a gang of thieves and assassins. Seriously WTF!! And there is no way the Bride would actually do something like that either. Ridiculous writing.

But vernita was expecting a friend wasn't she? That's what she was saying before she opened the door. Tarantino always pays attention to details.

And? Just because you are expecting someone you aren't going to look out the window first?? And The Bride would not just show up on the doorstep like that. She had absolutely no way of knowing Vernita would answer the door the way she did.

Uh...Vernita also knows she can kick ass.

reply

The entire movie is unrealistic. She is seen on a commercial flight with a katana in the seat next to her. Were you expecting a documentary?

reply

True. Movies often portray extraordinary or super human conditions. That's half the fun of watching movies, seeing something improbable or impossible. Ex. Superman.

reply

That was a special airline service as real as red apple cigarettes.

reply

I never look or ask before the opening the door. What kind of paranoid fruitcake are you?

reply

Whaaat? I hope that was sarcasm because if not you sound stupid as hell. You answer your door and you don't at the very LEAST look through the peephole??

reply

I never look to see who's at the door either. Don't have a peephole, just open it and see who it is.

I think you may be confusing unrealistic with improbable, and even then you sound pretty paranoid.

I don't particularly want realism in films anyway. I can watch a documentary for that and besides, perhaps it was the intent.

Unrealistic does not automatically = bad/a mistake.

reply

How do I sound paranoid for looking or asking before opening a door to my home?? What world do you guys live in!?

reply

I live in a city which averages 1 murder every one to two years. A lot of people in the midwest outside of the metropolitan areas like Chicago, KC or St. Louis are far more casual about that sort of thing because violence isn't all that common.

reply

Well it's been 4 years since she saw her, I doubt she was expecting her to suddenly show up on the doorstep one day.

reply

This ☝️

reply

She wouldn't be expecting the Bride, but on top of that, the neighbourhood suggests that just answering the door is par for the course.

OP might have a bit of a point, though, because being a spy/assassin at the level Vernita operated at would leave her with certain instincts and paranoid behaviours that wouldn't go away. Of course, that's real world psyche breakdown. Kill Bill ain't the real world.

reply

It would be interesting to know whether Vernitta was also in hiding from Bill and assumed the bride died 4 years ago, maybe she was just out of the loop. Also i never look out of the window when people knock on my door, i just go and answer it. I dont even lock it half the time but i dont live in a community where we worry about ex assassitantion squad members are likely to come round for tea

reply

That is very stupid thing to say. You think your community is safe until something bad happens, we hear that all the time. I don't think many people come across ex assassins, but you know thieves, home invasions and rapist's.

Talk about nitpicking..

reply

I also would expect the kind of person who was an assassin would always have that 'instincts' mentality and always be scanning the room, know where the exits are, etc. And that would include the basic sense to at least get a visual before opening the door. Watch Law Abiding Citizen.

It's a movie. Only a movie.
