Is this Wes Anderson's best?

This is my favorite Wes Anderson movie, I like his style well enough, but I find his characters to be underdeveloped and one-dimensional, and this one is the only one where I actually gave a *beep* about any (in this case, every) character/s. I think every character had depth. I don't know, maybe it was just Gene Hackman. Even if it's not his best, it's definitely my favorite.

And I really really hoped I wouldn't die

Having Gene Hackman in the cast sure give it a leg up on his other films. And this is one of my favorite performances by Hackman

This is my personal favorite, but Rushmore and the grand Budapest hotel are really good contenders.

Moonrise Kingdom.

This and Rushmore are pretty much tied for me and two of my favorite movies. In think the difference is they feel a lot more like the real world than his later films and the scripts are so tight and focused. I do like hit later films, in particular Grand Budapest, but I wish he'd get back to that. French Dispatch was rough.
