The second best in the series.

Such a disappointment compared to the first film.

Agreed. There was some cool things in this movie, but I'd have been fine if they left The Matrix a standalone.

Some good action scenes wrapped around a bad movie.

I actually liked the third one better. It got super-weird with the stuff where Neo and Trinity are in the real world, I loved the Club Hel sequence, the train station stuff was neat, and as meatheaded as it was, the exos vs. robo-squids was kinda just dumb enough to be a little awesome.

Reloaded had a bunch of really cool fights, and there was some strange fun to the exposition/philosophy dumps in-between fights, but I felt like the story didn't move as much. It was almost like a stasis tank between 1 and 3.

Of course, at the end of the day, the first film is a masterpiece and the second two are strange action movies with delusions of grandeur. But if I'm picking between 2 and 3, I give an edge to 3.

If we're expanding to the Matrix franchise, though, I'd go with the Animatrix, or maybe the comic collection - particularly Neil Gaiman's "Goliath".

I pretty much agree. Part 2 has a few good action scenes, but the story was all over the place. It felt like they threw in the Keymaker stuff just to add an action scene.

Part 3 at least focussed on the action.

I did kinda dig how frikkin' weird it got, too. They seemed to have pulled out all the stops.

I think I like Reloaded the most, they did a great job with the freeway scene and the Mega City backdrop, and at the very least it definitely has the best music of the 3 current films. Great scene with Neo and the Oracle, Neo and the Architect, as well.
