Started off as sex, turn into rape doesn't even make sense. Rape is taking it against their will. She wanted it hard, got it hard. She'll know next time

What an idiot.

I'm assuming you are a man. Let's say you are having sex with some chick. You tell her to give it to you hard. She then proceeds to take her nails and scratch your male member. You tell her to stop, and she keeps doing it. Your special little buddy is now bloody and cut up, which is when she begins to slam it into a desk drawer over and over again- completely ignoring the fact that you are screaming, crying, and physically unable to stop her. No, in this situation you are unable to overpower her.

Now your special little guy is bloody, cut up, and bent. You got what you wanted, and you got it hard. Maybe you'll know next time.

P.S. I honestly have no sympathy for people like you. If you got raped, I would probably laugh.

That being said, this scene made me very uncomfortable. I didn't find it overly graphic or anything, but I still thought it was bad. She told him to stop, she was crying, screaming, and in pain.

She told him to stop. Read again: she told him to stop. Read once more: she told him to stop.

She told him to stop and he continued to do what he was doing. She did not consent.

Julia's character had heard tales about the Alabama black snake and was intrigued, however when those things get in attack mode there's no stopping them.

lol.......is this for real. I'm not sure how that is to be considered rape??.......... It was consensual from the beginning. And he kept going like 20 secs. after it was not to her liking???...........

In now way did i find that scene offensive.

Whoa whoa: OTHELLO is the rapist here? Are you *beep* kidding me? They have him rape his girlfriend and never pay for it??? He's the freaking hero of the story?

Victoria, watch the historical version of the story, not this one.

I read the entire discussion here, and I want to add my 2 cents despite the fact that this thread is very old.

Just watched the movie tonight, and I loved it. The whole movie is disturbing, and that's good. It was a great modern adaptation of Othello.

Ok as for the sex scene, after it was over, I even said outloud, "that was disturbing", but it was a good scene.

As for the legal aspects, was it rape? Yes it was technically rape, but Desi seemed to have mixed emotions about it. Even she wasn't sure herself, she loved Odin after all.

If your sitting at home reading this and you just read what everyone on this post just wrote and you ask your little F-up mind, "is this rape????" Then you need to see a psychologist real quick real soon. I CANNOT BELIEVE MY DISTURBING EYES on what i've read some people say in this post, "ayy papi" WTF!!!! OF COURSE IT WAS RAPE YOU IDIOTS!!!! she might have said yes in the beginning but when she started saying stop and he didnt stop, he knew what he was doing he might have done it because the fact they told him they were referring to him as an "animal" but he even knew what he did was wrong, she CRIED!!!! on top of that she was a virgin!!! YES IT IS RAPE and i know this post is old but before you make a younger sibling watch something make sure you watch it first so you can be the judge. dam idiots... "ayy papi i like it rough" i can't believe this sh---!

numbar_foar and actorsmouth you both rock

To people who think it was lame do some research and you'll find out if someone is forcing sex on you when you have taken back consent it is extremely traumatic regardless of whether it is a stranger or your boyfriend who you consented to sex with and took it back. If its just as traumatic theres no reason for it to be taken less seriously.
