Why was Lester suicidal?

Even if I get that he was facing mid-life crisis and his life has say lost meaning, why was he willing to die like that?

And also - at the end, even though of course it was wrong to SPOILER - for that prejudiced and hateful man to shoot and kill him (I at first thought Lester shot himself), do you think that Lester wanted at that point to die or didn't mind dying?

But what drove him to that state, cheers.

I haven't seen this film in a long while but I don't remember Lester feeling suicidal? If anything he went from feeling unfulfilled in life, with a failing marriage and a broken relationship with his daughter, to becoming more fulfilled and living his life the way he wanted to, despite those two components still remaining damaged.

He never wanted to die, what gave you that impression?

reply

how do you deduce he was sucidial?
did you watch this movie? he was murdered.

reply

Well, from the start of the movie, he was saying stuff like "in a way, I'm dead already" and was saying how "in a year I'll be dead", that sounds suicidal, no?

reply

you didn't follow or understand this movie at all.
let it go

reply

"in a way, I'm dead already" -- he finds no joy in his life as it is at the start of the movie.

"in a year I'll be dead" -- narrator foreshadowing what will happen to him at the end of the movie.

reply

1. Not suicidal

2. Lots of real suicides happen for not any one particular reason or another or even rational reasons. This question is futile.
