Does anybody else not really like Donna?

I used to watch this show when I was a kid and I LOVED it. I loved all the characters and never really had a problem with anyone. However, I decided to watch it recently from the beginning and Donna really wasn't likeable, imo. Did anyone else have a similar experience?

Interesting comment. I experienced similar (but not quite the same) opinions. I started watching the show around season 5, then tried to catch up on the story lines through re-runs and syndication.

I went through phases where I liked and disliked certain characters. At first, I couldn't stand Jackie or Fez. I thought both were whiny. Then I disliked Donna starting around (re-runs of) Season 3 and 4, as being too pompous and self-centered.

Then went through an anti-Hyde phase, because I thought he was being unnecessarily mean to his circle friends. Never felt that way about Eric. I always felt sorry for him. He always got grief from Red and Donna. I was indifferent to Kelso. I guess because he was just... too Kelso.

Looking back, they all fell into different places in the puzzle that was the series.

Yeah Eric is definitely my favorite. He was the one I empathized with the most out of all of them.

It annoys me how she seems to get annoyed at Eric in nearly every episode.

You keep on reminding me of a darkness only I can see

reply

That annoyed me as well. I felt like she always gave him attitude for no reason.

When the show was newer, I thought Prepon was so much hotter than Kunis.
But now, Kunis seems to have the better career arc than LP. I still dig Laura, but Mila has her stuff too.

I'm not a woman much less Deanna Durbin, but the old-time glam-shot appeals to me.

reply

Yeah, I couldn't stand Donna. I never felt like she treated Eric as well as he deserved; she always seemed to think that she was too good for him. Plus I thought she was a horrible friend to Jackie. Jackie may not have been the best person in the world, but I thought she deserved more loyalty than Donna showed her.

reply

That monotone line delivery - ugh. Laura Prepon sounds like she went to the Tina Yothers School of Acting.

reply

To answer your question, ...
No, everyone really likes Donna.

reply

Not I, she was a hypocrite and got mad at Eric over every little thing good grief. Granted sometimes I sided with her but most of the time she was behaving really stupidly.

reply

c'mon, as funny as eric was, he was a complete and utter pussy. and she was kind enough to accept him as a partner. he deserved every single jab from her.

reply

That's ridiculous. You sound like a simp.

reply

so you are identifying with eric? interesting.

reply

no my original comment was quite clear.

reply

I thought she was kind of bitchy most of the time.

Hyde wasn't likeable for me

reply

They all have moments. Jackie grew on me. Hyde tried so hard to be tough. Donna was a swing and a missed based on the episode.

reply

Yeah I have been re-watching this and prison break. I forgot how funny this show was. I enjoy all of the cast but Hyde seemed to be difficult just to be difficult.
