Unusual happenstance 5/15/23 show.

Ben Chan, a former three day champ who became ill in April with covid and had to withdraw from the show undefeated was brought back in tonight's match. In tonight's return, he beat a guy who was an 8 game undefeated winner himself, which is kind of a tough break to go up against Chan who won the head to head going away in a blowout. This was unusual because it was the first time two champs faced each other in a non-tourny format. But it really sucks for the lady who was the third contestant who had to go up against the two champs at the same time.

You're (not your) sneaky Strntz! You casually mention loser Hannah Wilson as "a guy"; you naughty naughty boy! Mind your gender pronouns! "She" was the 2nd frigging coming of Amy Schneider! Very scary, but at least tolerable. I had to stop watching during Amy's run.

If you wanna see something really disturbing though, go watch interviews with Brittney Griner. That voice!

Huh... I am indeed a Neanderthal it would seem.

But to be fair, when Hannah first appeared, I smirked (as I'm wont to do) but said nothing but when I looked at my wife, she looked over her glasses and said "that's a dude in a dress". I picked the right girl to marry!!! Excuse me now as I go hunt and gather...

My wife noticed "it" right away too, but I actually did not! Amy was VERY obvious. My wife said the voice on Hannah was a dead giveaway; I didn't really notice.

Most of the people who were defeated by the former champ were also rubes that had no business being on the show. A few weren't fit for bar trivia night. I'm at the point that I really think that Jeopardy has been twisted, Twenty-One style. Personally, I watch it primarily for the trivia aspect but the show seems to be doing the utmost to keep up a cult of personality fanbase mixed with the politics of likes of Ken Jennings.

Ben is still a legitimate player. But I agree there have been several long runs by "champions" who seem to have been fed fodder every night, but I also recall a few contestants who ran into these buzzsaws who might have had a multi game run themselves if they hadn't run into some legitimate contestants.

Jenning's politics?

Hannah was vert lucky that Ben did not show up in her first game.
Otherwise, she would not have had a streak at all.

Ben is a strong player - he'll be up with the players in the current "Masters" tourney.

And Hannah actually should have lost before Ben showed up. Another contestant on an earlier show got the final question right, but for reasons no one understands, didn't bid enough to win. Hannah got it wrong and still won.

And to be fair, there have been a lot of very good players who would have had multi day runs if they didn't run into the elite like Jennings, Amodio, Holtzhauer, Schneider, He, Roach, etc. (not sure on those spellings).
