Which moment did you like Carrie least?

For the most part, I think people agree that Carrie had her annoying/terrible moments. For me, there are a lot of things that she does that don't sit right with me but what really blows my mind is when Carrie basically tells Aiden to get over it and accept that Big is her friend.

I truly don't see how anyone can defend this. Being friends with Big is one thing, but the way she treats Aiden like he HAS to accept that she's friends with Big... what?! She cheated on Aiden with him, broke his heart, and then she thinks Aiden's in the wrong for not wanting them to remain "friends"? It's especially frustrating because obviously Big/Carrie are never capable of being just friends.. she's essentially just being selfish and wants it all.

Can't dispute any of this. It would have been a different story if Aidan put that to her before taking her back however.

You saw this yesterday, right? I saw it again, and it got me interested in watching SATC from the beginning to see if my assumptions are correct. I found myself wondering if the way these affluent Manhattan females seem to think is typical of all or many women. There are many situations, IIRC, where the way all of them have acted - but especially Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda - indicates a spoiled upbringing, being used to having her cake and eating it too. Extremely self-centered. I may start another thread to ask if they are indicative of most women, or if it's in the writing/portrayals.

But, yes, I found her demanding that he "must forgive" her - even though admitting he won't be able to forget it - to be beyond narcissism, into fairytale territory. It's like she's never been taught that actions have consequences. I was dumbfounded.

One of the most awful scenes for me was when Carrie was pawing through Natasha's refrigerator, touching and looking over Natasha's things after having sex with Natasha's husband in the marital bed, on Natasha's sheets and pillows. Then Carrie showers in her bathroom, using her soap and shampoo, placing her giant wet feet on her bath mat, using her towel to dry herself, ugh! That scene was so repulsive and made me wish Carrie had plummeted down those concrete steps and smashed her nose instead of poor Natasha.

When I saw this thread, I immediately thought of her invasive, insulting behavior when she ambushed Natasha in the restaurant, wearing the provocative dress. The familiar way Carrie spoke to Natasha, her drinking from her glass, her assumption that Natasha would hear her out after refusing to take her calls.

But your post reminds me of even worse behavior. "Giant wet feet', hahaha.

We are supposed to be on Carrie's side, her great love and passion for Big, but she really showed herself to be contemptible. Completely lacking in boundaries.

Yelling at Charlotte for not offering her money and equating spending $40k on shoes to Charlotte still wearing her wedding ring. No. Just no. Yes, Charlotte does give her the ring and enough for her down payment later and everything seems smoothed out, but this is just appalling behavior.

reply

She did not yell at her and she did not ask for money. All she did was explain her feelings.

The Charlotte thing with the ring makes me despise her. Bitch!!!!!
But also she won’t give up big for aiden even bringing him to his home???? Geez but expects aiden to stop talking to his friend (the girl at the bar) and even shouts at Aiden in the street “Why don’t you just fuck her then”
What a foul mouthed disgusting butch she is. If she shouted like that in the street and I was there, I would have told aiden “ you can do better than her” it’s disgusting, she expects people to do what she wants, it she won’t do the same.
Dreadful horrible woman,

reply

Do you even understand the whole ring incident with charlotte and carrie?

reply

Yes I do, Carrie was skint because she blew her money on shoes and demanded Charlotte offer her the money even though she said she wouldn’t take it )which is a useless commmebt to make) and then she basically takes the poor buggers engagement ring which she loves to finance her home. When they are chatting and Charlotte insists she take the ring, Carrie says no but she cannot take her eyes from it, of course she takes it. And all the rubbish about going to big for advice????? Oh please she wanted his cash. She basically bullied Charlotte into giving her that ring. How dare she yell at Charlotte “what kills me you don’t even have to work” what’s that got to do with Carrie. It’s none of her business if Charlotte doesn’t have to work but as usually she thinks she’s entitled to her friends sorting out her life. Eurgh I hate her.

Pretty much from the start. Someone with the education and IQ of a tire iron can’t be a major newspaper columnist, and I was one.
