It just didn't work on any level. You cannot bring the past into the present, which is what they tried to do. Who lived like Marion Crane in the 90's? Lodger books in motels? Do motels even exist at the time? It just didn't work.

Was the movie was supposed to be set in the 1990s? It was released in the 1990s, but it may have been set earlier.

but it's the dumbest concept for a film I've heard of.
remake a CLASSIC in fucking color.. frame by frame ?!
