Milton makes no sense

So Milton was fired 'a long time ago'. There are SO many problems with this premise.

- How did the managers and bosses NOT know about this?
- How on EARTH do you fire someone without TELLING them they're fired? That's the FIRST thing you do when firing someone, right?
- WHY would Milton be able to not only ENTER the building (after all, if he's fired, he no longer works here, and thus, he is now a TRESPASSER the security should not let in, or AT LEAST throw out), but also carry a CARD? Wouldn't part of the firing process entail TAKING AWAY all identification cards, keys, and other corporate things employees have?

WHAT was actually done, when he was 'fired'? Not told he was fired, nothing was taken away from him, salary being still paid.. WHAT was the 'firing procedure' when Milton was supposedly fired?

In any case, when we realize he's a TRESPASSER, we can put many things into perspective anyway:

- Should he even HAVE any cubicle space? No. Stapler? No. CAKE? NO!!
- He sets the building on fire, which is not only dangerous, but criminal and also ethically wrong on so friggin' many levels, it's hard to even list
- He comes to the office, unlawfully occupies space, pollutes the airwaves, harasses the workers there (not CO-workers, but just workers, since HE is just a trespasser) with his 'reasonable volume' music and phone calls
- Tries to steal a stapler

Furthermore, this whole Milton being fired-thing means that Milton basically OWES the corporation a lot of money in wrongly paid (and greedily wrongly received, or you could call them STOLEN) salary payments.

They would never just 'fix a glitch' in payroll, they would make sure he CAN'T enter the building, he CAN'T wear or possess any 'worker ID' and they'd call the police if he still tried to enter, or wore that stuff unlawfully.

I mean, think about SECURITY - if they just let anyone in that doesn't even work there, the corporation would be in great danger - how about corporate espionage, haters, crazy people, homeless people, etc. etc.?

They can't just let ANYONE in, and if the system doesn't have a certain 'person' listed as a worker, the security would definitely not let that individual in without some kind of proven appointment or approval from higher-ups.

WHAT kind of security guards do they hire at Initech?

As a sidenote, what was the name of that other corporation, Inetrode? Almost the same name - probably signifying that the pússy life of Michael Bolton and Samir Nahawhatever never changed.

I hate when people say that a TRESPASSER should have had ANY piece of that cake - no! It was meant for the corporate employees only, and I am wondering WHY they let Milton in every day, and why did they let him wear that PASS card. Can YOU think of a reason, or a corporation that would do this?

This whole Milton business makes no sense. Also, I am pretty sure they'd be able to figure out it was Milton and pinpoint the crime on him, and catch him eventually.

As another sidenote, Milton's logic makes no sense, either. If someone listens to music with headphones, it isn't disturbing to the surroundings. If someone listens to radio at 'reasonable volume', it is disturbing to the surroundings. So it's not the same thing at all!

Furthermore, who defines 'reasonable volume'?

Also, why doesn't he understand that the main character is not talking about whether he's ALLOWED to listen, but whether he would be willing to do a FAVOR and turn it down just to help a fellow human being a bit? I know he's portrayed as thick (in many, so many ways), but would they even HIRE someone that's actually stupid to do some kind of corporate paperwork that WOULD realistically require some level of intelligence that SHOULD be enough to at least understand what the main character is talking about?

I am telling ya, the more I dig into Milton, the less his character seems to make any kind of sense. Try to make sense out of Milton from any perspective, I dare ya!

Don't any one reads all this. I certainly didn't bother

Man did you nail it! Was that rant (and the other one about the movie in general) a replacement for a therapy session or something?? There seem to be some bottled up issues/feelings here.

Yeah it is just a movie. That guy always posts way too much about nothing.

I'm trying to politely let them know it's a complete waste of time

They fixed the glitch

Wish they would fix the glitch in moviechat.org and limit avortac4's posts to 300 characters

Then he makes 10 of them with the remark "to be continued"... 🙄

😆

Indeed. Dude actually replied to his own OP in this thread: "As another sidenote..."

Limit him to one post per thread... and 300 characters
