Most Underrated Funny Line in the Movie

I watched this movie in a film class and found one line particularly hysterical, but found no one else seemed to be laughing. At the play reception, Ms. Cross goes up to Luke Wilson's character and says "I didn't expect to see you here, did Max send you an invitation?" and he replies "Yeah, and he told me to wear a tie."

It gets me just thinking about it.

reply

"Never in my wildest imagination did I ever dream I would have sons like these."

reply

I can't believe no one's mentioned these...

"With friends like you, who needs friends!"

After the play...
"I can't believe they let him build a campfire on stage. It's clearly a safety hazard."

reply

Max Fischer: So tell me Curly, how do you know Miss Cross?
Dr. Peter Flynn: We went to Harvard together.

I have no idea why he called Peter Curly.

reply

"Moving on, did you hear they're gonna get rid of Latin?"
or something like that lol

Hey, Ass-butt

reply

Max: What do you call getting a handjob in the back of a Jaguar?
Buchan: A *beep* lie?

He's a sailor,he's in New York.We get this guy laid we won't have any trouble

reply

Oh these are glorious. I'll go put them in some water.

reply

Most likely because Peter had the exact same haircut as Curly of the Three Stooges.

reply

Because he had a shaved head like Curly in the the Three Stooges, I think. I'm pretty sure Curly was the bald one. I hope that didn't take away the humor this line holds for you.

Wildcattin'...Wildcattin'. Pow! I'm gonna go.

When Miss Cross shows up with her friend: "Who's this guy??"

And early in the film when Mr. Blume is about to pay for his drink, Max goes: "No, I got it."

"I wrote a hit play and directed it, so I'm not sweating it either"

"Piranhas?"
"Yes, I'm talking to a guy in South America"

"Relax, Mr Blume. It's a relatively painless procedure" (unknowingly playing into the brain surgeon joke)

"Maybe I'm spending too much time starting up clubs and putting on plays. I should probably be trying harder to score chicks, thats all anyone really cares about anyway. It's just not my forte unfortunately"

"I'm gonna pop a cap in his ass" (dangling cause, as he does shoot Magnus later lol)

"Kid's gonna burn this place to the ground"
"You better believe it"

I love how during the Blume speech at the beginning Max is taking notes in calligraphy

"I guess you have to find something you love to do and do it for the rest of your life. For me thats going to Rushmore"

"Ah, Central America and whatnot"

"You're killin' me Smalls!"

reply

The old Indian guy at the party after Max's play "IT WAS THE BEST PLAY EVER" always cracks me up

reply

"What did you think?"

"Best play ever, man!"

Loved that, one of the best films I've ever seen, LOVED this movie!

reply

My favorite part is when Dirk is writing that well written, sophisticated letter to Max, in crayons!! lol.

This is Mike. He saves ghettos.
