when Melvin was asked how he described women so well,"I think of a man, then I take away reason and accountability " ha ha, Then in the car on the trip " what makes it hard is not that you had it bad, it is that you are so pissed that so many others had it good."
The "stiff one eye." Lmao. There are so many good lines, but since no one has mentioned it, when Simon is talking to a flustered Melvin.........."your the one who is....... dying here ." I thought he did a pretty good impression of JN. :)
Is that when he says "I'm drowning here, and you're describing the water"?
Everything about this movie I love. Great writing and acting. Comedy genius. I never get tired of watching this...but it always gets me every single time when he starts playing the song on the piano, and singing, so the dog would eat. His expression while singing is priceless.
It wasn't the one with the "I'm drowning " line, although that's funny too. It's the scene where they get back from Baltimore, & Simon & Melvin are in Melvin's apt. & Carol & Melvin just spoke on the phone. The conversation didn't go as Melvin wanted it too, so he was upset & rambling on & on & said "I'm dying here." Simon was trying to console him, but Melvin said "and you people are supposed to be sensitive? If you want to help me, your going to have to do better than that. Simon got pissed & said something like "well your the one who's dying here." It always cracked me up b/c when he said "dying here ", he did it in JN'S voice. Pretty good impression. Watch it again & get back to me (if u want) to give me your thoughts. :)
Your first example is the one I thought of right off and is true. And then society tries to tell men women run the household... and most (liberal) men allow it to happen.
"If it's election night, and you're excited and you want to celebrate because some fudge packer that you date, has been elected the first queer president of the United State, and he's going to have YOU down to camp David, and you want someone to share the moment with.....Even then, don't knock, not on this door, not for ANY reason.. Do you get me sweetheart?"
"Look, Elephant girl, get Carol, you know I'll pay whatever you want, I'll wait....DO IT!"
The fact that so many adult men and women are so sensitive to a line in a movie that they can't find the humor in it shows how childish and insecure this world has become. We're more obsessed with politeness and feelings than actually making progress. We'll never get to Mars like this.
That being said....
"Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City Sailor wanna hump-hump bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here."

You've NAILED IT Luke. Jack at it his very best! 😀
I agree with your first quote too.
Someone recently was talking about how hard we strived to get freedom of speech and now the politically correct people are seeking to stifle it.
"Take away the pain, but leave the swelling."
