Do you think this would've been a good ending?

Maybe Archer's face could've been too badly damaged to give back, he would've had to spend the rest of his life with Castor's face, but his family still would've accepted him. And he still would've adopted Adam, who would've had to deal with getting a new father who looks exactly the same as his dead father.

I know the movie is supposed to be a silly action movie, and it still could be, but changing just a few minutes at the end could also make it very deep, and it also could've made the movie much well-known and well-regarded.

There are so many movies where the ending is really what defines it. Just imagine if The Sixth Sense didn't have the plot twist. It would still be a great movie, but let's face it, it would also just be another random horror movie nobody remembers. Chinatown originally had a happy ending, but it was changed for similar reasons.

Unfortunately that would probably not have worked. They established at the beginning that the process would automatically heal any scars.

Too much of a downer for a dumb fun popcorn movie. He needed to get his face back, but I like that he ‘didn’t need’ the scar anymore. Adopting Adam was nice but it was done in such a corny, unbelievable way - just bringing a strange kid home and his wife immediately giving it the ‘OK’.

It’s very schmaltzy, especially considering the numerous deaths that have occurred as a result of the misguided Face/Off plan. I mean, what about the guy who was taking his boat out only for some psycho to machine gun him in the chest - what about that guy’s family? Dude wasn’t even involved in fighting crime.

Plus those poor prison guards who had to die so Archer could escape and get back to his family.
