How 'bout Picard as Villain?

I didn't see this film till recently. But did any of you experience post Star Trek trauma seeing the capable Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard on Star Trek Next Generation 90's TV series) as - villain?

It was a shock for me then - tho his air of "benevolent leader" did briefly deceive Julia Roberts' character!

I thot he did a fine job, incidentally.

I agree Patrick Stewart could do great villians. If only they utilized this in Star Trek Nemesis by letting him play his own evil clone then IMHO that movie would have turned out much better.

that is one thing i agree with. before he played picard he was well known in the uk for playing villins...check him out in Lady Jane Grey...he's shocking in that

Patrick is a legend, i couldnt think of anyone else that could do his part in this film as well as he does.

I could tell you. Then I'd have to kill you.

////spoiler alert////

and what a lame way to die... with a mop.lol

reply

You would think he could push his legs off the side. I know that no one could hold be under the water with a mop.

SPOILER ALERT

He didn't die because of the mop. While Jerry was holding him underwater, Jonas retrieved a pistol from a holster on his leg and fired it up out of the water at Jerry, releasing the mop. But before he could recover, Alice emptied her gun into the water, killing Jonas.

Patrick had become something of a movie star thanks to the success of First Contact the year before. no doubt that helped get him the villain role in this. big name director and the biggest stars of the era .. unfortunately the film wasn't much a success that you'd expect from Donner/Gibson/Roberts

He plays a good villain in Green Room (2015).

In Masterminds Stewart also played the villain. But he played it as an over-the-top spoof of the "Master Criminal". It was both hysterical and very entertaining.
