BREAKING Deadline: The Avengers to get 'legacy sequel' starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman

Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman will return as Steed and Ms Peel in the long belated "Avengers" sequel due to start filming later this year. Reports suggest 007 actor Daniel Craig is close to signing up to play the villain who will be the son of the villain from the 1998 movie, Sir August de Wynter, played by the late James Bond superstar Sir Sean Connery.

Further details are currently being kept under wraps, but sources tell Deadline that the aim is to create an Avengers 'cinematic universe' that would later incorporate The Saint and The Prisoner franchises

I could totally see both lead actors in a more serious adaptation of the film since both Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes have gone on to have more dramatic, less silly roles.
