Is it just me or do people like this movie more today than when it was first released?

I remember when the movie first came out a lot of people were very disappointed in this film because they were expecting another lighthearted Jim Carrey movie like "Ace Ventura" or "Dumb And Dumber", I haven't seen this movie since maybe the mid 2000's but I remember not being overly impressed with this movie as well.

People really hated this when it came out. So it would be pretty easy to have people like it more today. I was the exception though when this came out. I loved it.. I remember I rented it on VHS..and just really liked it..and then when it first premiered on HBO I recorded it on VHS so I could watch whenever I wanted. My best friend at the time liked it alot too...it's funny because I didn't understand alot of the adult humor at 13 but my friend who was like 2 years younger did and told me what the clit was.

I have to say, it was a bit of a weird transition seeing him go from comedy into darkness.

After watching Jim for a few years on In Living Color (1990 - 1994), I expected this to be a comedy. Kinda is, but damn did it turn down another road, especially towards the end.

I didn't have much appreciation for it as a teenager. Viewing it as an adult was a totally different experience. I actually think The Cable Guy has some pretty impressive writing.
