Why didn’t he kill Robert the Bruce?

Why didn’t William kill the Bruce?

And why was the Bruce beside Longshanks at Falkirk anyway? Longshanks asks the Bruce something and the Bruce just nods back, and Longshanks gives him a confused look. What was that about?

And after the Bruce knocked William off his horse, what was the Bruce gonna do with William if William hadn’t gotten the upper hand?

Utter disbelief
And he was heir to the throne of Scotland

Interesting point about him being heir to the throne. I guess killing him would’ve caused more disunity.

The scene you describe was fiction, as are most things in that movie.

reply

Yeah but we’re talking about the movie, not history.

Mutual respect. He knew:

Bruce would lead the Scottish to fight like warrior poets….and win their freedom.

reply

Mostly because he was in shock that someone he trusted had betrayed him.
