Vincent and Jules cheated death, you see? Marvin had no opinion or respect for the situation.. and he got shot in a freak accident.

this means death skipped Jules and took Marvin's ignorant life instead. Jules changed his life, and lived.Vincent got what he deserved as well for being a non-believer.

Marvin essentially saved Jules' life.
