Which sister do you prefer?

My question.

I think Jo would be a fun sister to have. She puts on plays and dresses up. But i think she would be somewhat moody with a bad temper, we'd probably fight a lot.

I think Meg would be a very sweet sister but impossible with her lectures and criticism. I think it would be hard to be myself around her because she would be scolding me for everything!

Amy would be my next choice. I'd kill her for burning my book...but i'd admire her talent. ( i dont understand why she and jo didnt get along their talents complimented eachothet! Guess it was the clashing tempers)

Beth would be last. Shes very kind, sweet but too perfect to be anything but a character!

Amy...as portrayed by Samantha Mathis. She should've gone on to bigger and better things...she was quite good in this.

Dammit Carol Sue, where is the vodka?!

Meg mostly. She would be a good big sister to have. She's gentle about giving advice which would be nice. I love how she's fine with traditional womanhood and realises how important and fulfilling marriage (and marrying for love) and children are. I have a soft spot for those Team Mom big-sister types.

Beth would probably be the best sister but as others have said, she's a bit too perfect. But she's so caring nobody could not want her!

I also like Amy. She's so much like my younger cousins! She's so realistic and by far grows the most as a character. She's easy to relate to (you lot hating on her- please, tell me more about what a docile, obedient, perfect little sister you were growing up) and frankly I fail to see why she is such an evil brat yet Jo, who is even more immature and spiteful, is not. I'd love to do art projects with her. She's interesting and flawed, like a real girl.

Jo is the most overrated. Fun, and I'd love to do plays with her, but good grief is she a self-absorbed intellectual snob. I wouldn't like having a sister who thinks she's too good for female friends- that attitude ticks me off enormously. Imagine the worst traits of Kristy Thomas and Dawn Schafer combined. Oh, I do like her OK, but I hate how her flaws are applauded as role model material while the others' are bad or boring for theirs. She has the worst fans, who make her leave a bad taste in my mouth when they go on about her while hating on the others.

Though you're dressed in rags, you wear an air of queenly grace

I would say I am a combination of Jo, Meg, and a tiny bit of Beth. I like Jo's character the most because I believe she is the best combination of all the sister's personalities, a close second would be Meg. With Beth it is difficult to say. She is kind and selfless, however we don't see much of her personality in the movie as she is ill most of the time. I am not a fan of Amy at all and I am the least like her. I know people like her and I do understand that she was realistic and ambitious, however she was too selfish and almost cold-hearted for me to appreciate.

I like Jo because of her spirit, her tempered ambition, and her independence. I am the same way in that I would give up a very good marriage prospect if I didn't feel it was true love and that the union would dampen my spirit. She loves her family and wants to be close to them, yet yearns for excitement in her life. She isn't perfect and has many idiosyncrasies, such as feeling the need to be responsible towards her family, yet there are many instances where she is impulsive and gets herself into difficult situations. I am not impulsive in the least and in this respect I am more like Meg.

With Meg, she wants the good things in life but feels a higher need to be responsible and respectable. She has no other desire in life but to be a good woman, wife, and mother, and this is not a bad thing. I know a few women like her and in this day and age it is not looked upon too favorably, however not everyone is meant to have a place in the work force and working hard at being a wife and mother is actually a wonderful ambition. She is sweet, kind, peaceful, and loyal. Meg is not a firey personality but more earthy and is the foundation of all the sisters (after Marmie).

Beth is the least dimensional of all the sisters as she was not able to develop like the others. She has a great deal of social anxiety but finds her place in life by giving unconditionally to others. I think this is why so many people like Beth as there are not many people in the world who give so unconditionally. She is peaceful and retiring, accepting her limitations and understands that her role in life is to support her sisters, as well as those in her community, rather than make her own way in the world. I feel I am somewhat like Beth in that I do tend to put others first a lot of the time however I do not think this is very good in that I, at times, have trouble motivating myself to do things for myself and feel uncomfortable putting myself first.

If you look at a personality spectrum of the sisters, it would go from Beth, to Meg, to Jo, to Amy. Amy is the end of the spectrum and opposite of Beth because Amy is selfish. She knows what she wants and never shies away from her beliefs. Many people respect this about her and I do understand why, however Amy lacks the reverence in life that the other sisters have. She is very talented, witty, and lively, yet she lacks sensitivity and compassion. I think in all our lives there is an Amy who does exactly what she wants and get what she wants in life, much of the time at the expense of someone else's happiness or rightful place, and you just have to accept that the person is part of your life however you do not harbor much respect for the person.

I love all the sisters and always thought Meg was underrated. She grows so much as a person and, I think, becomes a lot like Marmie. She becomes such a loving, responsible, and kind adult who knows that she wants to marry for love and so she does.

Of course I love Jo and I think that a lot of her traits are purposely exaggerated to reflect the time period and just how against the grain she was. I love how at the end she realizes that her true home is wherever her family was and that Orchard House still had her heart.

I think they all grew to be lovely women and am glad that Amy grows up so much and becomes a kinder and more loving sister. Honestly, my favorite character has always been Marmie because she's such a wonderful mother and such a strong woman. One of my favorite female characters in literature because she stands her ground and holds firmly to her beliefs. One of my favorite quotes from the film is when she tells Meg that it's fine if she holds her value in being purely decorative but she fears that that's all she'll think she is...still applicable today. And Susan Sarandon played her perfectly.

I love Jo, but I identify more with Beth.

I read this as which sister you would want to be. And I would have to say Amy. Because I would want to be the one who marries Laurie!

I liked Beth the most. She was just so sweet and innocent. I was bawling when she died. So sad 

I eat shades of red. 
