True Romance vs Boondock Saints

Having discussions at work on which movie is "better". Wanted to get some IMDB user feedback on this topic. If possible indicate your age range (teens, 20s, 30s, ...). Thanks!

I've never seen Boondock Saints but this is still better

If I had to watch between BS or TR for the rest of my life, I'd pick BS, but if someone enforced TR, I wouldn't bitch about it.

BS is on a whole different level compared to a lot of "classics" though. The dialogue is so well written and original you'd think it were Tarantino himself who wrote it too.

The scenes are just so varied and poignant they make you want to watch them again and again, for example the scene where the two brothers talk about murderers and rapists getting off on bail, where they cauterize each others' wounds with a heated iron in a silent scene, the scene where one brother saves the other by jumping off a building after ripping a toilet seat from the ground until his wrists bleed.

TR is great, Tarantino's writing is great, Christopher Walken in one scene alone is great, the cast is great, and the chemistry is great, but that doesn't change the fact that the same goes for BS as well.

This thread is sort of a strange comparaison, I would never compare the two because they're such good movies, but they're pretty different stories.

In the end, you just have to accept that some people prefer Quantum of Solace to Skyfall, and that they have arguments to back it up. Whether you're too closed minded to accept those arguments is your problem, and you maybe that this Internet debating *beep* way too seriously.

The Boondock Saints is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Although I haven't seen this yet, there's almost a complete guarantee that I will enjoy this one more.

Will I lie to myself to be happy? In your case Teddy, yes I will.

True Romance, but both movies are fun. Only The Boondock Saints had an ending that didn't feel very satisfying. It was like a hilarious, well-told joke with no punchline.
True Romance was far more satisfying. Not to mention scenes like the Walken/Hopper exchange trumps everything Troy Duffy's ever put out.
I'm 18 by the way.

True Romance without a doubt. Boondock Saints was a decent film which I seem to regard less with each viewing: not the case with TR. I am 33.

45 here. BS is good, but True Romance is much better.

There's no comparison. Boondock Saints is cool, but True Romance will always be a better movie: better characters, better story, better script (Tarantino's best IMO), as much gun-blasting action, great direction by the late master Tony Scott (RIP) with his stylish, glossy aesthetics (in the vein of Top Gun), a better cast (EXCELLENT cast as a matter of fact) in which almost every role is played by a STAR, with Gary Oldman exceeding his usual genius, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Chris Penn, Tom Sizemore, Sammy L. Jackson, Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt, the beautifully sexy Patricia Arquette making a perfect couple with Christian Slater (with a lot more chemistry than the MacManus bros.), whereas BS has Willem Dafoe as the only iconic actor (great as usual) while Flannery and Reedus deliver average performances playing one-dimensional characters.

I got nothing against The Boondock Saints, I enjoyed it and added it to my DVD collection, but it's True Romance hands down.

I think a better comparison would be True Romance vs. Wild at Heart/Natural Born Killers/Love and a .45/Romeo Lies Bleeding (though it would still be the better movie)

Neither film can seriously be called classic or even "great", however True Romance is better made and less painful to watch.

One of the best films ever vs a movie so bad that even all the lame people who claim to love the original didnt go see the sequel. Gee I wonder. Boondocks was absolute sh*t

Why all the hate for Boondock Saints, because of it's jerk director? Boondock Saints is entertaining and a cult classic. However it's not nearly as good as True Romance.
