Question about the chase after laundry mat scene...

So she's in a baseball cap trying to be incognito and an agent pretends to hit on her, goes after her in the streets and serenades her, but she refuses his advances and gets away. So then he tags his partner, who's a shorter dude, more aggressive. This dude is not playing around, it looks like he's going to kill her in public... hence, the chase, in which she got away.

My question is this... Were they trying to kill her? If so, why didn't the first guy do it? Why didn't he kill her instead of serenading? I mean the second shorter guy wasn't so subtle, he looks like he's going to cut her throat in front of everybody if he catches her. That scene makes no sense to me.

Witnesses.

Uh, your response makes no sense. You're saying the second more aggressive dude wasn't hampered by witnesses? Both 1st and 2nd agent are in the same vicinity, same crowd. He was plowing through the witnesses in the crowd. LOL! Julia Roberts had to ask some big dude for help. The midget agent was then tackled by some dudes. They ain't witnesses? This agent's behavior versus the 1st agent's behavior was a complete opposite. Like I said, made no sense. If you're going to be that open and that aggressive in front of people, why didn't the 1st agent kill her instead of singing? Because the midget agent was acting like he was going to destroy her in public. He was acting like the T-1000 in Terminator 2. Ridiculous directing...

It looked to me like he was trying to get close to her and out of public IE he tried to casonova his way into her hotel where he'd off her. But when that failed he signaled for his partner to kill her in public as plan B.

"Agent"
They were the bad guys....the agents worked for the government and actually helped protect her.

Back to your actual question. I think the little guy was an actual hitman the one who would kill people.
It has been a while, I know he planted the 2 car bombs in the film, I'm not sure why they hired that other guy to kill the judges and to kill Shaw in the middle of the park that one day.

Anyway, I do not believe the guy in the pub/bar or wherever they were hanging out was a hit man but maybe there to stall her until the hitman got there. Perhaps he also contacted them to let them know he found her and that is why the hitman was on his way there.
