So.. C' calls him *beep* and Jane doesn't even care?

C' calls Jane's brother *n!gger* - which is an insult for all black pople, not just him - and yet she acts as if that moment is wiped away from her brain when they meet again, learning that he didn't attack her brother.

And lets get this out of the way; I'm not a black person and i'm against racism but this has got nothing to do with it.
I just found that part extremely shallow and bad written.

I thought about that also.

But Jane probably realized that C said the word in anger, and that he basically was a good person, because he tried to help her brother when he was beaten up. Some people will drop someone because of one bad word. Jane, to her credit, looked beyond that.

Still, I'm not exactly clear on what Jane saw in C, that she liked him so much.

Actions speak louder than words.

The other reason is a bit sad. She probably heard that word so regularly it didn't affect her like it would someone today. I remember growing up in the 1980s in the Southern California and hearing that word. I imagine it was much worse in the 1960s.

i was waiting for him to apologize. nothing.

That bothered me too. Only a white man could have written that. Can you image Spike Lee give the character a pass for that?
