I THINK THIS IS MY FAVORITE OF THE SERIES.

THE EFFECTS AND VISUALS AS WELL AS THE STYLISH OVERALL LOOK REALLY WORK FOR ME...AS DOES THE CAST AND THE PLOT AND CHARACTERS.

DEFINITE SHADES OF THE 1988 BLOB.

- The 1956 version is pretty good.
- The 1978 version is one of the best movies ever made.
- The 1993 version is pretty good.

YEAH...I HEAR THAT A LOT ABOUT THE 1978 VERSION...I LIKED IT BUT ALSO FELT IT WAS KIND OF BORING...I AM DISTINCTLY AN 80S/90S GUY...SO IT IS WHAT IT IS I GUESS.

I just re-watched it. I didn't like it much when I first saw it and all I can say now is that it is not bad. I think the '56 version is great and the '78 is, possibly better. This one seemed to do nothing that hadn't been done in the '78 version and the combination of the retrospective narration and the setting on an Army base just seemed to make it all less interesting. ...But it is better than I remembered.

Now, I suppose I may have to look at the 2007 one again... But, I'm pretty sure that one is crap.

I completely agree. I watched this one 6 months ago and was pleasantly surprises by how good it was. I like the 78 version too but this one is the best for me.

reply

I don't rate it as highly as the 50s or 70s version, but it's good. Some great cinematography and lighting to really create a sinister atmosphere.

reply

I suppose I will have to watch it again. All I remember are isolated bits like Meg Tillys "Where you gonna go?" speech and Forest Whitaker as the doctor trying to maintain sanity on escalating doses of amphetamines.

reply

Mine too after the original.

is this based on Heinleins Puppet Masters?
