Something serious but also comical happens with their surf shop which gets them in deep shit with organised crime. Their latest shipment of surfboards contain drugs hidden inside that were meant to go somewhere else and thugs come looking for it. They call on their old 'Nam buddy Louis for help.

Emilio Estevez said he wanted to write movies which have an important message, eg. the stopping illegal dumping of pollution in Men at Work. So whatever plot a sequel has it needs to have some kind of message. An anti-drugs message might help fit his idea.
