shareThe Hulk heals at an accelerated speed, this we have seen earlier in the tv-series. So had Banner been able to stay in his Hulk-persona he would have survived.
But he transformed into his fragile human self before his crushing internal damage had a chance to heal.
And so he died.
Same thing happened in the episode deep shock as soon as the hulk grabbed that wire and got shocked he fainted and the voltage he took should have deep fried his insides even in his human form and banner changed as he fainted.
