Anybody watch this show because of loving Hugh Laurie on House?

I ask because I was actually the reverse: I started watching House because I loved Laurie so ardently from Jeeves and Wooster. I remember it was a little awkward at first, watching Bertie act so dashed moody and cynical and American. But of course, I eventually became smitten with Dr. House as well.

How about initial House fans who crossed over to J+W? Was it a shock to your systems seeing him play the very antithesis of House's character: a naive, sweet, sociable, British imbecile?

Loved the books, loved the TV series Jeeves & Wooster, never watched House.

Hugh Laurie is a very talented individual, as are a great many of the British comics; Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry, Steve Coogan, Simon Pegg,...

I saw "House" first--not really a fan so I had watched only a few. Then through PBS I watched "Jeeves and Wooster" and didn't realize that Hugh Laurie was the same actor until some couple of years later. And then I saw him on "Friends" where he sits next to Jennifer who regales him with her complexities with David.

Nope, I first encountered Stephen Fry in Blackadder, and then Hugh Laurie in a guest appearance there, plus the pair of them in the "Bambi" episode of The Young Ones. I saw a couple of A Bit of Fry & Laurie, later Blackadders, then encountered Jeeves and Wooster on Masterpiece Theater, in the early 90s. I went out and picked up a couple of the books and fell in love. I followed Fry and Laurie wherever I could.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!

Even now I've yet to watch House. But my parents bought the DVD set for Jeeves and Wooster around 2002/2003 due to our family's love for P.G. Wodehouse. It's satisfying to see that Hugh Laurie and even Stephen Fry have subsequently become a lot more famous. :)

Actually I remember Laurie from his roles in Sense & Sensibility, Stewart Little, 101 Dalmations, and The Borrowers. I watched a few episodes of House but really adored J&W. My first memory of him is as the rude but deep down very kind Mr Palmer in Sense & Sensibility. His role was small but he definitely made an impact.

I've never seen Laurie in "House", but I did see "Jeeves & Wooster" when it aired on Masterpiece Theatre in the early 90's, that's when the programming was high quality.
