Anybody watch this show because of loving Hugh Laurie on House?

I ask because I was actually the reverse: I started watching House because I loved Laurie so ardently from Jeeves and Wooster. I remember it was a little awkward at first, watching Bertie act so dashed moody and cynical and American. But of course, I eventually became smitten with Dr. House as well.

How about initial House fans who crossed over to J+W? Was it a shock to your systems seeing him play the very antithesis of House's character: a naive, sweet, sociable, British imbecile?

I was an initial House fan who became interested in Hugh Laurie's early roles. I started watching A Bit of Fry & Laurie clips on YouTube, and then my boyfriend got me into watching Jeeves and Wooster, which I fell in love with.

For me it wasn't a shock to my system to see Hugh Laurie playing such drastically different characters. It works because he's a phenomenal actor. Also, on House I always found him darkly funny. On J&W, he's still funny, though in a different way. So I don't think it's much of a stretch.

Lisbeth Salander is my girl and don't you forget it.

I too was the reverse, though for me it was Blackadder and not J&W. I refused to watch house for a long time because i thought it rather silly that he should have to change his accent. I also got sick of hearing Hugh reffered to as "that guy from House" when to me he will always be George from Blackadder, one of the greatest television shows ever (in my opinion).

I eventually came around though, and am now a huge fan of House.

Nope.

I too refused to watch House at first, although for a different reason: Massive Attack's song "Teardrop" is one of my all time favorite songs, and I didn't like it being referred to as "that song from House," though I eventually gave in and now very much enjoy the show. And this in turn led me to Jeeves and Wooster, which I enjoy just as much, but in a different way. So my journey was "Teardrop" to J&W.

me too, blackadder (more of a fry fan than laurie)-> house (amazed at laurie's ability to play such a serious role) -> jw & bit of fry/laurie

We watched House but remembered Laurie from the Stuart Little films. Then we watched Black Adder and was blown away by his halariuos characters in that. I just now found this show on Hulu.

Yeah, I did!

It's odd, actually. I started watching House and recognized Laurie right away from Flight of the Phoenix, but I also thought he look familiar from something else. I found out a few weeks later that it was Blackadder that I'd seen him in years ago (among a lot of films here and there as well). It had been so long and he's so completely different in the two shows that I just didn't even make the connection.

After House I sought out Laurie's earlier stuff and discovered the gem that is Jeeves & Wooster, as well as Fry & Laurie. :)

I didn't realize this till my gf spotted him out a few weeks ago while I was watching J&W & said "hey that's House!"...I replied with "oh yeah tis, now shoosh Jeeves is talking"...I'm not a big on Laurie (although he is brilliant as Bertie Wooster), more of a Steven fry fan.
