The difference between this Punisher and the awful remake is...

I think the 04 was the better made film but neither is true to the comics. In both versions he's law enforcement whose family is killed out of revenge. In the comics, he was a Marine whose family was killed for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. No motive for the killing so he just kills all criminals in retaliation. Even the Berthal version created a motive for his family dying.

And don't get me started on any of the Jigsaw's from the live action roles. Thankfully this version didn't have one.

I liked Punisher 89 and the 2004 one. The 2004 one though is more based off Garth Ennis' comic except that it's about his origin as well. I frankly wish Tom Jane could've returned for a sequel instead of the awful War Zone movie. I did like Punisher in season 2 of Daredevil but then they had to go and ruin his origin in his spinoff show by having his family and most of his men he served with killed by shady men in the government. All because Frank and his men he served with did shady things for them and they don't want anyone to know about it. That's more like the plot of a James Bond or Bourne movie. Not the Punisher!
