The thing he puffs when he's trying to "ward off" Ray out of the apartment?

Obviously probably an old-timey tool of some sort, but I have no idea what it is or what it's called....

It's an old-fashion bug spray. You fill it with the bug-killing liquid and pump it out in a fine mist, just as Terence is doing.

Yep, Owl's right. It is an old-timey bug sprayer. In The Godfather, little Anthony is chasing old Vito in the garden with one when they were playing together.
