One month after his TV wife, JoMarie Payton, recalled White wanting to fight him, VelJohnson tells E.T. that the actor "was a wonderful kid, (but) I think working with him was a challenge. Working with everybody was a challenge, and there were some moments where he was a little difficult. But overall, I have nothing but good memories from him."

I've been watching the series again lately, and I sometimes have wondered; when they were doing scenes where Steve had royally screwed up (such as destroying parts of the Winslow house or making a mess), and Carl was pissed at him....does anybody think Reginald VelJohnson didn't have to act too much for those scenes?

Although, it takes talent to do the different funny facial expressions, head nods to assert an opinion or emotion, the "I'm gonna kill you" smile and laugh, and the Amityville Horror Voice of Extreme Anger. The ability to do all that and not burst out laughing shows you how good an actor Mr. VelJohnson truly was.

I think a lot of the Winslow clan were kind of pissed it became The Urkel Show.
