Why didn't Joanne Whalley become a major film star after Willow?

It seems like she's more known for marrying Val Kilmer and siring his children than for her own acting career. Her most noteworthy role after Willow was probably as Scarlett O'Hara in the made-for-TV miniseries sequel to Gone with the Wind. She was also in The Man Who Knew Too Little with Bill Murray. And she was most recently on the Daredevil series as Sister Maggie.

Maybe she jumped into motherhood too soon and didn’t milk her looks enough while she was young and fresh. What a waste for the rest of us 😞

As a pre-teen I found her character redundant, just rewatched Willow and holy fuck, she was the star of the show. I’m not normally into gingers but those eyes and that mouth are hypnotic. She’s like a much sexier version of ‘you know nothing John Snow’.

In addition, she’s got big tits. Google them and thank me later. It’s rare that a slimmy has bags of that size.

What a goddess. Should have been a Bond girl. She’s going right into my top 15.

Kilmer’s a lucky dog.

yes. val kilmer actually admit that he stalk this woman before he meet her. he was obsess with her! if val kilmer, who had pussys on tap in his youth, is stalking woman, you know she is flame thrower!

she have talent but no mass appeal. to be popular generic actress you need mass appeal like sandra bullock - the public like you for being cute and inoffense.

joanne whally do movie in 1990 with michael biehn and charlie sheem call Navy Seal. this was suppose to be like top gun, and she play the kelly mcgillis role. it was suppose to be big hit but did mediocre box office. i put her on same acting level as actor like michael biehn - talented actors who lack mass appeal to get into big leagues.

That’s just it - she does have ‘mass appeal’. She’s a good actress and she’s smoking hot. I put it down to early motherhood, Val got his muck up her too soon.

yes she is good actress and hot but when i say mass appeal i mean more generic actor like cameron deaz, reese withaspoon. ect. these peoples sell big film just by name. audience go for them. i dont think she have this.

but having no mass appeal doesnt mean you are not succesful actor. many movie fan think you are failed actor without hit movies every year, but all actor should be judge on talent and quality of acting abilitys not how much your film are successful and how big your name is. some of my favorite actor are not huge star like michael biehn and corey feldman.

yes she make good choice to have kilmers kids. otherwise she end like actors such as jennifer aniston bragging about career and moneys over family!

I remember seeing her in Scandal (1989) when it was released. Probably not a movie most people have heard about.

yes that was good film, made by british. that got her notice in hollywood. she came to america to do movie after that film and she was predicted to be big star by movie press and critic because of her performance in that film.

One can only guess why she didn't become a bigger name. I did like her in this movie and that Bill Murray film, The Man Who Knew Too Little. Outside of this, I really couldn't name anything she was in.

However, if you look at her IMDB page, she's actually been in quite a few movies and TV shows dating all the way back to 1975.
