this film has such a beautiful feel and atmosphere

gosh this film is so '80s feeling. even if you didn't watch this film in the '80s if you watch it today you would be instantly taken back to the '80s when you were a kid. so beautiful. i love this film just for it's '80s atmosphere. anyone else? it really brought me back to the '80s in a very specific way.

I agree. Though it is funny because by the actual timeline of the series, this takes place after the year 2000. At the beginning they show Jason underwater right before the scene with Tina as a little girl. So the beginning takes place well after Part 6. Making the majority of the movie take place at least 20 years after the 6th one. It's weird to think about.

how did you calculate it's 20 years after part 6?

In the prologue of the film Tina's a little girl and Jason is at the bottom of Crystal Lake due to the events of the previous film -- Part VI -- but the bulk of the story takes place when she is approximately 17, which means the events occur about 12-14 years after Part VI (I can't remember offhand how young Tina was at the beginning but, if she was 3, the rest of the movie would take place around 14 years later; if she was 5, it'd be it'd be about 12 years later).

Here's the breakdown of the F13 timeline:

Part I: 1979, as verified by Pamela Voorhees' gravestone in Part IV.

Part II through Part IV: 1984, which means the events occur 5 years after Part I; and these three sequels all take place over the course of several days.

Part V: About 1989 since Tommy Jarvis was 12 in Part IV; he's around 17 in Part V.

Part VI: It depends on how old Tommy is when he's released from the mental hospital. If he’s 18, it would be 1990; if he’s 22 it’d be 1994.

So the earliest Part VII takes place would be 2002-2004.
