Caught an episode recently on BBC. It's a bit like watching a local theater group attempting their own Star Trek series on barely evolved video cameras.
The writing and the characters were great, which is far more important. Those critical elements in the new Star Trek are pure dogshit.
shareS1 is definitely a bit of a slog but they improve. S2-3 they settle into their own groove and is some of the best sci fi tv you will find.
shareCompared to what they produce nowadays, esp. under the name 'Star Trek', TNG, and all the other 'old' Trek shows for that matter, are gold.
Currently rewatching ENT.
I understand that opinion. Having watched TNG when it was new (and I was much much younger), my rewatch was based on my impressions of it from my youth, so my assessment may be unfair.
shareI have been rewatching on H&I. I am astonished at how I feel so differently about it than I have in the past. Foe the time being I am going to say it's my current state of mind, then revisit later.
