I know it ended up working well, but was it the wisest decision to send up pilots who had been drinking at the ceremony at the end?

Looks like they only had a glass or two of champagne, not enough to impair them for long if at all. The adrenaline brought on by action would cancel out far larger amounts of alcohol.

You do know it would take time for deployment after that party from the graduation. I'd say maybe 24-48 hours later.
