The Baboons....
I didn't know Baboons were so easily available lol.
shareI thought the scene with the baboon getting harassed by the (actual) fly, buzzing around him was hysterical!! I don't know how many times I replayed it!!
shareThe movie isn't very realistic. A single scientist having the capability to secretly possess and run such advanced technology is kind of absurd
It might have worked in an era of movies when the "mad scientist" trope wasn't considered totally ridiculous, but it's hard to buy in an 80s movie. The movie was still good, but the explanation for how he got his set up was weak
He was backed (sponsored) by the Bartok company that we see in the sequel. So yes, he could possess and run advanced technology.
shareI know the explanation. I think it was weak
Like a big corporation would trust one single scientist to run unsanctioned experiments with technology that would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and not ever send anyone to check on his progress
We don't know that they didn't ever check on his progress. As for trusting a single scientist, let's look at what this eccentric scientist was trying to invent. A matter transporter (that at first could only transport inanimate objects, which itself is revolutionary), that would change travel and transport forever. Now if Brundle arrived at Bartok industries with a small (say microwave size) version of this, then surely Bartok industries would comply with his wishes to mostly work undisturbed and alone.
Not really so far fetched
