One of the producers said this show had the worst cast family of all time.

I've heard other people criticize the family as well.

Willie always seems tense and could lose it at any moment, while Kate is full of deadpan sarcasm. Max Wright and Anne Schedeen deliver. However, Lynn is pretty forgettable and Brian is as dull as dish water. Weak writing for those characters and uncharismatic actors to boot.

The whole show always looked cheap to me, even the Tanner house itself looked lower class than what the Tanner's were probably supposed to be. I think it's one of the reasons why I never got that into it, it just has a downer vibe. They probably thought Alf would just carry the show no matter what and of course the actors especially Max Wright was pissed off at playing second fiddle to a guy in a suit but what did he expect when the show was called ALF and not Willie?

Nonsense. They were hilarious. Its a freaking sitcom after all. What do they expected there?

ALF if one of those cult shows that has legacy. It was shown in so many countries outside of USA and was huge hit probably in all of them. People still watch it on repeat.

Brian WAS dull. Boy was not that great as an actor. And Lynn should have had more interesting lines. But writers focused on dynamic between ALF, Wille and Kate. And props to Anne Schedeen who could have been annoying like Walters Whites wife in Breaking Bad. Because writers wrote her that way. But Anne Schedeen managed to play it off to be funny, reasonable and not be annoying.
