My thoughts on the directors cut

It’s less bad. I like that they took out Pauli’s sex bot and most of Brigitte Nielsen’s horrendous dialogue (especially the Popeye line), and I like the stuff they added in. But still there is too much garbage from the original that still remains in the Directors cut, the dance numbers, the driving/flashback sequence, the shitty music, etc. It’s still easily the worst Rocky movie.

I thought the Directors Cut, improved the movie (by darkening the tone, cutting out most of the filler and making both fights less one-sided than in the original)
Whilst 'Rocky IV' remains a lightweight popcorn 'flick', I too will admit that it's the weakest of the series. At very least the D.C. throws in a few (much-needed) scenes with dialogue (to break up the music videos)

I'd now place the D.C. on par with (if not slightly ahead of) ROCKY BALBOA.

Yeah I mean if they had just removed the driving montage, and changed the music in the training montages and the fight to the original Bill Conti Score I probably would have thought the DC was at least a good movie. But I will say I did enjoy the extended scenes with Adrian and Apollo, that at least added some emotional weight to the story. I’d rather have that than the Nexus 6 Pleasure Model Sex Bot giving Pauli a handjob.
