Yes she had survived heart surgery and a stroke, so a temporary stay for recovery might have been understandable whenever that was, but as we know her in the show it was in her past and at the current point of the show, she had every bit the energy and activity of anyone else in the show. It has always struck me as odd.
shareShe needed constant supervision though or she would steal their cars, money, run off and do dangerous things. I guess Dorothy at that time didn't have the time or maybe the space to look after her. There always had to be someone home with her if Dorothy left for the night, stuff like that.
shareThat's true because I don't know if they ever said where Dorothy was living when Sophia went into the nursing home but I assume she was living alone and couldn't look after her, then when she moved in with Blanche and Rose there were more people around to keep an eye on her.
