It's anti-fundamentalist, but not anti-Christian.
A lot of people also miss that the Rev's "analness" was coming from the point of trying to protect the kids (he lost his own son in a reckless accident) as misguided as he might have been. He also was the first to rail against those who wanted to burn the very books he spoke out against - showing that he, if nothing else, wasn't a totalitarian.
I'm not a religious man, but if I was, he would be the type of pastor I'd want.
