Why would Kamal help Orlov

Orlov was war hungry and wanted to invade nearby countries. I'm wondering how he got tied up with Kalmal, and why Kamal would help him. Kamal was a jewelry smuggler, so getting paid off with jewelry from the Kremlin (or whatever that place was) would make sense. But why would Kamal agree to let a nuke go off and ruin his smuggling operation, his front (the circus) and kill his "friend" Octopussy?

Because now he gets the chance to be the sole boss instead of working with Octopussy.

He knew Octopussy would never go along with the bomb and this way he gets all the Jewelry and will get a shitload of money when he sells them at the auction now that he doesn't have the split the money with her.
