was shockingly bad. But I blame the director for not getting the performance out of her. Is that the best take he could choose?

Wow, you didn't like it? I thought that was one of the best scenes in the film. Although, I don't go into Rocky films expecting great performances. They're fun movies but not exactly filled with great acting. Although Burgess Meredith was always good as Mickey. That guy was a real actor...

IMO the flaw is the writing more than her acting.

It’s a melodramatic scene but works thanks to Talia & Stallone’s emotion. It feels genuine, if a little over the top.
