Why did Sly look so different since Rocky 2?

This movie was only 3 years after Rocky 2 yet Stallone's face had changed dramatically(he looked more handsome too). Maybe it was because he lost some bodyfat or it was the tan, but I don't know. What do you think?

He had $$$$$$$

"We stayed up all night dry humping, it was awful, I think she gave me poison ivy."

People on this thread claiming the Stallone had plastic surgery don't know what they're talking about. He was only 34 years old when he made Rocky III.

On the other hand, in the context of the movie, it seems that he had some plastic surgery between the end of part II and the beginning of part III. In the first two movies Rocky had lumps over his eyelids. Mick had the exact same lumps, plus additional makeup/prosthetics on his nose (to make it look like it had been broken umpteen times) and on his ears (to make it look like he had "cauliflower ears"). Also, Rocky had a scar over his left eye, running vertically through his eyebrow. In part III they didn't apply the makeup/prosthetics for the lumps over his eyes or the scar. When Paulie said to him, "You fixed your face up handsome," that's what he's most likely referring to.

In other words, in-universe, Rocky Balboa got plastic surgery to remove those lumps over his eyes and the scar. In real life, Stallone simply didn't put on the makeup/prosthetics for those things in part III.

Other things that made Stallone look different include:

1. He got down to a ridiculously low body fat percentage for Rocky III, which made his face look more gaunt.

2. He had a totally different haircut.

3. He had a totally different physique, i.e., a bodybuilder physique rather than his previous lumberjack physique.

4. He had makeup on his face intended to make him look as good as possible on camera. In the first two movies the makeup department wasn't trying to make him look good. They were trying to make him look like someone who's been fighting in clubs for ~10 years, hence the lumps and scar.

Bruce Lee went through a similar transformation with his unusual approach to exercise and diet. Compare the way that he looked in The Big Boss (1971) to Enter the Dragon (1973). It's like looking at two different people.
