What if Robert DeNiro played Jack Cates?

Not that Nick Nolte didn't do a good job but I just thought about who else could've played the cop role? Robert DeNiro you could say played a roughly similar type of character in Midnight Run (which was incidentally, helmed by Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills Cop director Martin Brest), which Charles Gordon ostensibly playing the Reggie Hammond to his Jack Cates. DeNiro's character in Midnight Run, is even named Jack (Walsh in this case). DeNiro and Murphy would eventually work together in the movie Showtime.

I can't see it. I love Deniro and Midnight Run but Nick Nolte WAS Jack Cates.
