Michael Ironside

Michael Ironside in this flick is downright incredible. One of the best villains in cinematic history.

I agree!!He REALLY scares me.

reply

This movie was the first one I remember ever seeing him in-or noticing him, anyway. Great actor.

reply

"Visiting Hours" really should've launched him into stardom. Unfortunetly, he never became a real "name" actor like Tom Cruise, but he remains a legend in the underground.

reply

I kind of get him mixed up with the guy that Eddie Murphy knocked over into the potato salad. Maybe an oxymoron, but wasn't the rape scene done kind of tastefully? I remember seeing this with teen hormones raging and thinking, wow I am surprised that they are showing extended sex.

reply

What 'rape' scene are we talking about?  I have this dvd and haven't seen anything that really implies a rape, unless you are referring to the scene where his character roughs up the girl he picks up at the restaurant.

Running a knife over a females body to scare her, and then tearing her clothes with it and biting her back, because he cannot perform physical penetration would be considered in the realm of sexual violence. It wasn't penetrative rape; but it was an abusive and brutal action performed on her in lieu of intercourse. It was Colt's notion of sex.

Don't eat the whole ones! Those are for the guests. 🍪

reply

Where is it implied that he can not perform physical penetration? He was just a weirdo if anything, yeah the girl did talk some shit about him supposedly "can't get it up" but I don't think she was serious. It was just an insult.

reply

It was implied by the character herself, when she was consulted by Sheila.

Ironside gave a superbly chilling and intense performance as the extremely scary and nasty mad dog misogynistic killer Colt Hawker.

Chirpy tastes like chicken.

reply

Yes indeed. Michael Ironside gave one of the best performances I have ever seen.

Colt Hawker was such a sicko, yet, if I were the girl in the cafe and he had come on to me, I would have gone with him. And THAT is what makes him so goddam scary!

He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!

reply

I completely agree. Michael Ironside can always be counted on to deliver a solid well acted villain to any b-movie he appears in. Just an awesome talent!

Visiting Hours was just released late 2017 here in the U.K. (after years of being banned etc.). It was one of the "Video Nasties" I was really desperate to see and I bought it nearly as soon as it came out and I was not disappointed. I love Ironside in nearly everything he's in, from Total Recall to the Splinter Cell games. He's especially brilliant and menacing in this.

reply

He was very memorable. He's a big guy and has a mean face and his lack of dialogue coupled with a cunning intelligence in his crimes made him scary.
