How were they allowed to keep their hair?

Surely, they weren't buzz cuts that the two came out with. Or were they?

In Police Academy, the handsome guy tells the barber to take just a little off the sides, and they ask if you can do that. The barber responds with sure, this ain't the army, you know. But this was the army.

"Since Bill Murray and Harold Ramis were bigger names at that point than the rest of the cast, they were required to cut their hair shorter, but not to shave their entire heads."

You'd think they'd have cheated the other way: Only partially shave everyone going into basic training and write it off with "it's just a movie" logic.

But they sheared John Candy no questions asked.

Incongruency like this can be a little annoying or a real bugaboo, depending on who you ask.

But hey . . it's just a movie.

Cuz it's a movie and having their hair shorn was not in the script.

Right. Shame on me for thinking movies should always show consistency.
