Richard Pryor

Pryor is outstanding in this film - a tremendous performance making full use of his angry/foul-mouthed persona. It is a shame he wasn't Oscar nominated for the role - beyond Jon Voigt and I guess, De Niro the Best Actor category that year wasn't anything to get excited about.

I also cherish his work the following year in Silver Streak, which tones down the language but turns up the comedy and of course kicked off his famous partnership with Gene Wilder.

Did Pryor have any other great dramatic roles? In Blue Collar he is truly impressive.

I'd say "Lady Sings The Blues" (1972) and "Hit" (1973).

It was mostly played for laughs but he added some serious drama to his role in Bustin Loose.
