Towards the end...

When the wounded Englishmen were lying on the lawn singing, and the German troops were approaching, the scene cuts. Did the Germans kill the wounded soldiers then?

reply

I doubt it; Bittrich was a stickler for following the Geneva convention. Presumably the wounded were collected up by the German Medical corp; so it happened in real life, I believe.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?

reply

I wondered about this also. Those Germans were pretty brave to approach (if there were just two of them)!

reply

Those soldiers would have had their share of battle. They were wounded so they could not fight had they had the ammunition. By that time they were hungry as well. Not so the Germans. And they had been ordered to surrender. Had they fought, the Germans would have been compelled to not honor the surrender.

reply

No ... they were captured and given medical care.

reply

I suggest watching a documentary about this event. There is a lot of nuance going on that is impossible to cover in a feature film. As to your question, they were all captured, imprisoned, and then freed at the end of the war.
