Really loved this film!

Just saw it this afternoon on Bravo. Great performances all around. Insanely top notch cast. And the final sword fight was superbly acted. Shaw was obviously under appreciated as a leading man and action hero. It's obvious the movie was never intended to be high art, just a ripping tale, and it delivers.

Well rounded, interesting, black characters for such a film, too. Heck, they even survived.

I saw it when it came out.

Great photography. Good theme.

Pretty girl.

Robert Shaw hamming it up with I'm not crazy, I'm an Irishman.

What more ya need from a movie.

Totally agree. This was a real treat to see as it is rarely aired. I know that it has been over 30 years since I saw it last. It was released when I was 18. Therefore aside from the 2 main leads, Robert Shaw and James Earl Jones, the supporting cast were some of the best actors and personalities of the era. I mean really Geoffrey Holder and Avery Schreiber...alone.

This was never meant to be high brow. It is just plain enjoyable fun. Ditto your comment sir.

I'll have to watch this sometime.

I saw it when it was in theaters. I don't remember much about it other than I liked it. I like most pirate movies, except the last 8 Johnny Depp ones (Black Pearl was awesome) Also liked the one with Geena Davis and Matthew Modine Cutthroat Island
