In cinema, for you or even in general, is there anything that is too taboo or "too much"?

Content wise, including certain acts, torture, sexuality, cruelty, violence etc, like those depicted in this movie.

And even certain matters that may perhaps not be illegal and are consensual (even if they may have had some legal and other matters about them in certain periods of time) but may cinematically, perhaps, simply be "not to your taste", even if other matters, paradoxically, that are officially wrong and whatnot, you personally don't mind, and say in action movies, or horror movies, you are not only alright with it but actively admire it, one way or another.

Or is nothing really too taboo and no subject matter, no matter how distasteful etc, is to be used as a barometer for judging film's quality? Thanks.

To put it simply, no.

The more complicated answer is that yes, certain acts might go to far, especially if they aren't simulated. I don't want to watch an actual snuff film, I don't want to see anyone get purposely hurt, and I don't want to watch any authentic sex scenes that weren't consensual.

I guess most adults would pretty much agree with that, yes.

And I suppose a film like this or even this film isn't too taboo for you itself sslssg, correct?

reply

No, I didn't find it taboo.

I also wouldn't say that I found enjoyment watching it, but I did watch it after reading De Sade's writing, and it was well done.

I don't consider this film to be "taboo", just a nasty glimpse into the mind of a degenerate that I have no interest in seeing.

Some depraved Italian pervert became influential enough to put all his most disgusting fantasies on film and the elites rave and call it an artistic masterpiece and an expose of the evils of Fascism, when it's actually nothing more than the twisted jackoff fantasies of a Leftist.

Pasolini was a sick, vile individual who died in a manner he richly deserved, and probably enjoyed while it was happening.

reply

Don't think the last one was true at all, and I certainly don't think he could've "enjoyed" it.
