Does anyone know 20th Century Fox has never released this on video?

Like the reveiwer, I too have always had a soft spot for this film. I saw it in the theater when it was brand new, and to this day, I can remember the great time the audience had. Yes, it is interrupted about 2/3 of the way through with graphic violence which seems out of place relative to the tone of the film up to that point. However, in my opinion, it was not enough for me to dismiss the rest of the film. The movie boasts a veteran director, and 3 A-List actors. Considering the amount junk that is available on video and DVD, I can't figure out why Fox hasn't bothered to release this for purchase. I ended up taping it from the WE channel but that's as close as I've been able to get to owning my own copy.

This movie was released on VHS back in the late '70's. You can still find a 30 year old copy on ebay now and then. I have heard rumors that in the late '80's the original may have been destroyed in a fire in Hollywood. I too feel that this was a very entertaining movie, I have a poor copy on DVD that I transfered years ago, and would really like to see someone bring this back out on DVD. One of the movie channels (i.e. "Friday Night Movie"), don't remember which has a copy, but it will show up every couple of years on commercial TV.

Is it any surprise you can't find liberal movies of the 70s made by 20th Century Fox later bought by arch-conservatives? Doesn't surprise me.
Lucky Lady relected a lot of the liberal sexual attitudes of the day.
You also can't find Naked Lunch, a drug-induced memoire of WIlliam S Burroughs full of psychedlia and homosexuality, as well as High Velocity and Burn, both films with strong anti-colonialist, anti-capitalist bents.

Doesnt surprise me in the least.

oh, i have waited so long to see this film again. i saw it as a 10 year old kid in 1978. it was running on a hotel in phoenix, az. it was constantly coming on the our tv in the room. i kept wanting to watch it instead of being on our vacation, lol. we took another trip the follwing year and i was so excited because we were staying at the same hotel and i thought it would still be playing there a year later. of course it wasn't. kids are such dummies. anyway, i haven't seen it since "78". i definitely have a soft spot for this film and am dying to see it again. some of u think it may have been released, at least on vhs. i'm gonna check amazon and see. i hope it's there.

I was browsing Amazon's new release section late last night and came upon Lucky Lady on DVD being released by Shout Factory on Feb. 1, 2011. I saw this in a theater in Santa Monica,CA when I was 14 and loved it. So mark your calendar and support the independant DVD companies who bring us these great movies locked away in studio vaults.
